About Our School

R. A Sennett School is located in a residential area near the central business District of downtown Whitby. Schools have been located on the site since the mid 1800's. The School serves approximately 380 students, a significant portion of who are bussed. Our School community is both economically and culturally diverse. We are very proud of our schools daily breakfast program, which operates with financial assistance from several local businesses, private donations and service clubs.

Over the past few Years the school has emphasized computer technology, literacy skills and peaceful conflict resolution in our programs. The staff and community support a variety of Extra-curricular activities, an elective program, and music nights.

Our school enjoys a healthy partnership with the School community Council. Staff and parents serve on several committees and assist at many functions where their expertise and support are invaluable. Highlights over past year include several enjoyable and profitable fundraising events, and award winning garden project which involved students, staff, parents and neighbours in our school community.

Our shared goal is to develop co-operative, respectful citizens who will be self-motivated, lifelong learners.
